BJP MLAs evicted from Delhi Assembly, suspended for 3 days

Last Updated 01 September 2011, 14:01 IST

All BJP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition V K Malhotra, were marshalled out after the House met for the second time during the day following a 30-minute adjournement forced by vociferous opposition lawmakers who also blew conch as a mark of protest.

As soon as the House assembled, Malhotra demanded a discussion on either CAG report and questioned why Dikshit was allowed to make a suo motu statement on allegations of corruption on Tuesday when BJP MLAs were marshalled out for seeking to discuss the findings of the auditor.

The senior BJP leader also countered Dikshit's remarks on Tuesday that he, as Vice-Chairman of CWG Organising Committee, was "as responsible as Suresh Kalmadi" for the irregularities and said no probe committee has taken his name for any irregularities.

"I was not involved in any decision making while CM was part of the GoM that monitored the progress of Games related projects. Even Sandip Dikshit was member of some committees," he told the House.

When the Speaker did not seem to pay heed to the demands of Malhotra, all BJP MLAs trooped to the well of the House and shouted slogans against the Congress government following which the proceedings were adjourned for half an hour.

The situation did not change when the House met again after the adjournment as unrelenting BJP MLAs again stormed into the well of the House and blew conch to demand a discussion on the CAG report.
