Maruti Suzuki produces 150 cars at Manesar Saturday

"In a move to raise production volumes, the company had commenced part production of cars in plant B, the second plant at Manesar yesterday (Friday). The weld shop of this plant was started," the company said in a statement.

According to the company, the two plants at Manesar facility are integrated and that the output from weld shop in plant B was fed to the assembly line of plant A.
"This gives the company flexibility to deploy more manpower in assembly operations, and produce more vehicles," the statement said.

The company added that it has recruited 125 ITI-trained operators on Saturday.   "The current strength of people now available for production is 800," the statement said, adding that on Friday the company produced 125 cars from both the plant.    

Earlier on Wednesday and Thursday, the company recruited 120 and 180 ITI-trained and experienced people. "In addition, the company has deployed 50 engineers from the company’s Gurgaon plant and around 290 supervisors for production activities at Manesar plant," the statement said.

The company said it is scouting for more trained workers in coming days.   The production at the plant came to an halt on Monday after the company suspended and dismissed 21 employees on charges of sabotaging the production and deliberately causing quality problems in the vehicles.

The company's facility at Manesar produces its bestseller hatchbacks and sedans like the Swift, Swift Dzire, A-Star and SX4. The majority of the automobile giant's production takes place at its remaining three plants in Gurgaon district.
