Incomplete walking track draws flak

Last Updated 05 September 2011, 17:49 IST

The development works of the park is progressing at a snail’s pace, the completion of which may take months, says a disappointed health freak. The park also lacks basic amenities and the elders have no other option but to continue their walking on the  roads.

A nearby resident Ramachandru said that the development of walking track had begun a couple of months ago and the works are still at an initial stage. Now, the gravel and other construction materials have been dumped on the park, making the spot completely useless.

Ward member S P Sridhar said there is no proper information on the fund sanctioned and why the works are limping. The contractor might have stopped the work due to rain, he said and assured to take steps to complete the work immediately.

Sridhar said he would hold discussions with the authorities concerned to expedite the works. Walking track and sitting benches are still to be laid, which would be finished soon, he added.

CMC AEE Puttaseshagiri said tenders have been invited for laying walking track at a cost of Rs five lakh. The works are getting delayed due to several reasons. Kabul and Kerb stones would be laid on the walking track, which would begin in a couple of days, he assured.
