Electrocution: Fora demand compensation

As midnight tragedy struck the labourers in Appenahalli near Arasikere taluk when five people were electrocuted, members of various fora and organisations staged a demonstration demanding fair compensation for the relatives of the dead.

Scores of activists of Dalit Sangharsha Samiti and other labour fora staged a protest blaming the electricity department for the incident.

The negligence of the officials of power department led to the tragedy. 

Hence, they said that the  state government should release a honorable compensation for the kin of all the victims, they said.

Police arrived on the spot and persuaded the protesters to end their agitation.

The activists submitted a memorandum to deputy commissioner’s office seeking early relief to victims’ families.
