PM to set up GoM to examine airline issues

Indeed, the cost of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) and higher taxes on airlines, are likely to be taken for discussion by the union cabinet on Thursday.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel reportedly disclosed the details of steps the government would take to address the concerns of the airlines during his meeting with the airline representatives.

Emerging from the hour-long meeting, Chairman of Kingfisher Airlines Vijay Mallya expressed satisfaction about the minister's assurance to address the concerns on an urgent basis.
“The ministry is sympathetic to the industry’s problems,” Mallya said.

“The minister has also agreed to do his best in taking up the issues with the government.”
Besides Vijay Mallya, the meeting was also attended by Air India CMD Arvind Jadhav, Jet Airways chairman Naresh Goyal, Indigo chairman Rahul Bhatia and president Aditya Ghosh, SpiceJet Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Agarwal, GoAir Managing Director Jay Wadia and FIA director general Anil Baijal.

Union Civil Aviation Secretary M M Nambiar was also present.
