Team Mangalore to fly kites in Sri Lanka

Team Mangalore, city based hobby group of kite flyers has been officially invited to the Nilahare Wasanthaya – 2011— All Island Kite Festival to be held at Negombo Beach Park, Srilanka on September 17 and 18.

According to a press release, this unique International Kite festival will showcase some of the best kites by flyers of international fame around the world. Team Mangalore (India) a regular in International kite flying scene will be taking part.

This team of four members namely Sarvesh Rao, Dinesh Holla, B Sathish Rao and Shashank Shetty will participate. The best kite teams from countries around the world are invited to participate in the event, the release said.

Earlier, Team Mangalore had participated in various International Kite Festivals held in Canada, UK, Thailand, and France and recently it had participated in the International Kite Festival held at South Korea and Qatar. The team’s new creation ‘Pushpaka Vimana’ got accolades from the people of South Korea and France.

The team will showcase their variety of kites which include Kathakkali, the kite which entred the Limca Book of Record for largest kite in India and also various other kites such as yakshagaana, Charlie, Owl, Pushpaka Vimana, Bird, Bat Series, Bharthnatyam and various other kites at the festival in Srilanka. Most of the kites from Team Mangalore depict the cultural richness of India.
