The utsava’ which started on September 1, saw well-known artistes from different schools of art across the country performing each day.
Daksha Seth Dance Company got all the appreciation for its breathtaking performances including kalaripayattu, attakkalari, mallakambh and chhau.
There was also a contemporary dance on the seventh day during which, the artistes commenced their performance with Ganesh Vandana. The talented dancers put forth a lively performance. It was Isha Sharvani’s performance on the hula hoop which made the audience to sit on the edge of their seats.
Later, Isha Sharvani and team took centre stage to present the exclusive piece Shiva Shakti. Directed by Isha Sharvani and Devissaro, the piece dealt with Kundalini Shakti in ancient Indian philosophy of Tantra.
The union of Shiva and Shakti was well represe nted by the skillful artistes. Choreographed by Daksha and Isha, the piece gave a different experience to the audience. Following this were ‘Prince Dance Troupe’ from Orissa and a percussion performance by Pund Cholom and Dhol Cholom.
On the eighth day of the utsava, the famous Carnatic vocalist TM Krishna performed to a packed audience. His resonant voice left the audience deeply touched. Some of the compositions he performed were Yendaro Mahanubhavalu, Bhaja Govindam and Bhajare Re Manasa.
His performance was followed by an exhilarating ‘bhajan’ and ‘ghazal’ concert by the ‘bhajan’ maestro Anup Jalota who fascinated the large audience with his devotional songs in awesome classical ragas. He sang some of the best bhajans like Laagi Lagan Meera Ho Gayi Magan, Jag Mein Sundar Hai Do Naam, Chahe Krishna Kaho Ya Ram to name a few.
He was accompanied by the talented Preety Bhalla who sang the upbeat track Damadam Mast Kalandar and Eka Danta Vakrathundaya, a devotional song for Lord Ganesha. Mesmerised by Anup’s voice, some of the audience members started singing along.
The ninth day witnessed one more power-packed performance by one of the most popular singers of Bollywood, Sunidhi Chauhan. The husky voiced Sunidhi performed Beedi Jalaile from Omkara, Chhaliya from Tashan and Desi Girl from Dostana among other chartbusters.
The phenomenal performance had Bangaloreans cheering with excitement throughout the evening. The thunderous music and her powerful and sensuous voice made the night one of the best for the audience. But the crowd kept on requesting for Sheila Ki Jawani until Sunidhi finally presented it.
Art-lovers, who visited the APS Grounds, also got an opportunity to taste the most authentic Kannadiga dishes from every district of Karnataka as part of ‘Aromas of Karnataka’ on all the eleven days.
