Dishtv brings internet on television

The company has tied up with three major internet portals, namely, Yatra.Com, Monster and Shaadi.Com to offer internet services for its subscribers through the set-top box.

With this initiative Dishtv subscribers can search, book plane tickets and hotel rooms at discounted rates or search for job opportunities and even for their life partners just through a click on their remote. The services are to be offered to all its  subscribers, without any additional cost. “In India, access to the internet is limited — both in urban and rural areas compared to TV penetration and thereby, DTH can be an effective medium to provide these services,” Dishtv Chief Operating Officer Salil Kapoor said.
