The EC is acting on media reports which quoted the CM saying, “If you want development in your constituency then vote for the BJP candidate”.

The local reports further quoted the CM stating that even if the JD(S) or Congress candidate win they would have to sit in the opposition.

The EC has sought a report from the Chamarajnagar Deputy Commissioner.

ACPs transferred

The government has issued orders to transfer two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) attached to Govindrajnagar Assembly constituency. The move is in compliance with EC’s direction that Kengeri ACP T D Durgaiah and Vijayanagar Assistant Commissioner of Police N Hanumanthappa be transferred with immediate effect.

The Congress had recently lodged a complaint with the EC stating that the two officers had been in the same jurisdiction for several years.
