Dayananda Sagar School of Information Technology celebrated ‘Dhyuthi 11’, its inter-departmental festival, recently in an effort to encourage its students to exhibit their talents.

Almost all the events saw a huge participation from the students.  Most of the prizes in the literary events were bagged by girls whereas the boys proved their calibre in sports and fun games.

The audience exhibited their energy levels by cheering throughout the event. In the literary section, students battled it out in events like ‘Extempore’, group discussion and debate.

‘Arjuna Award’ winner and athlete Arjun Devaiah, who was the guest of honour for the day, awarded prizes to the students. “Our attitude towards life plays a major role in shaping our career. And youngsters should learn to utilise every opportunity they get in their lives in their favour,” he said.

Abhilasha from BCA first semester grabbed the first place in ‘Extempore’ and Rohini from the same class secured the second place. The group discussion was won by a team comprising Anusha, Ramitha, Hemalatha and Abhilasha. Tanya and Anusha won the first and second place respectively in debate. “One of the benefits of being involved in extra-curricular activities is that we learn about time management and prioritise things in our lives,” said Himanshu, a BCA student.

The ‘Musical Chair’ was one of the most enjoyable games. The students tried all the tricks to find a chair once the music stopped. It was Anusha and Tanya who finally won the game.

“Every student wants to exhibit his or her talent in the fields that they are good at. And extra-curricular activities provide them a way to explore their calibre and boost their confidence levels. As ‘Dhyuthi’ had something to offer, from sports to literary events, every student of our institution found it very useful,” said Professor Gayatri Anand, one of the faculty coordinators.
