The Megacity project, promoted by Forest Minister C P Yogeshwar, is facing allegations of irregularities, but he has rejected the charges saying these were an attempt to tarnish his image.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a function here, Bharadwaj said he had discussed the controversy involving Yogeshwar with the Chief Minister.

Bhardwaj, who summoned Gowda to Raj Bhavan yesterday, brought to his notice a complaint he had received from members of Mega City Project Association, seeking a CBI probe into the affairs of the project and action against Yogeshwar, Managing Director of Megacity Developers and Builders Ltd.

However, at another function, Gowda, in response to a query said, "The Governor did not raise the issue (concerning Yogeshwar) in the meeting at all. We discussed many other matters which I prefer not to spell out as it may create a controversy or a media debate."

Official sources attached to the Chief Minister's secretariat said yesterday that during the meeting Gowda had briefed the Governor on the action taken on the Lokayukta report on illegal mining.

Yogeshwar, a former Congress MLA, had quit his seat to join the BJP. He recently won a bye-election from Channapatna on a BJP ticket, where the party had never won
