Last Updated 27 September 2011, 18:07 IST

The DG and IGP has issued an order suspending K S Devendrappa, who was attached to Bellary Rural and the Torangal police stations before he was transferred to Shimoga.

He was accused of deleting the names of two prime accused from the First Information Report.

Honnurappa, personal secretary of local MLA G Somashekara Reddy and Bellary Palike member Diwakar, allegedly threatened Singh over the phone when he went to investigate the illegal mining activities in the Ramgad forest area on directions of the Lokayukta.

Ramalingaiah, an officer of the Mines and Geology Department, had filed a complaint with the police at Sandur on September 12, 2009. However, Devendrappa said he had not served in the Sandur station, but in Torangal for three months before being transferred to the Bellary Rural station and later to DCRB in Shimoga.
