The chief guest on the occasion was former DGP, Shankar M Bidari. He was joined on stage by the executive director, SNVL Narasimha Raju, the director of management studies R L Nandeshwar and the principals of the respective colleges.

The many achievements of the colleges were highlighted – the recent ones being The Oxford College of Science being accredited with an' A' grade by NAAC and the inception of the Biotechnology Finishing School.

There was also a prize distribution ceremony where meritorious students were awarded for their outstanding performance at the University examinations. The students were then taken to each of their departments and given a detailed insight into how everything works. They were provided with the syllabus and informed about the curricular and co-curricular activities.

Sonhita Chel, a professor of the department of Microbiology said, “Each course has research work as well as proper academics. For the PG department of Microbiology, students from different departments and universities have also enrolled.

For them we have a special ‘Bridge Course’ where they were given information about the PG Microbiology course. This way, the students are clear about what they will be learning in the next four semesters.”

Neelima V a student said, “I did my UG and PG here itself and I am really happy to enrol for the BTFS (Biotechnology Finishing School) course. I wanted to choose a  career-oriented option. We will have theory work now and then go for more research work and practicals. It is a research-oriented course and was my first option.

Here there is a proper balance of academics and practical work making the course more intense and worthwhile.”  Suveksha, a student said, “I am doing my MS in Communication. The PG classes have started and are going on very well. We have been working on making short films and documentaries.”

Internal tests, semester exams (theory papers) and practicals will be an integral part of the students’ learning experience at the institution. These will eventually help the student do well and graduate from the PG departments.
