The Special Lokayukta court had granted anticipatory bail to Yeddyurappa on September 15 with the condition that he would co-operate with the Lokayukta police in the investigation.

Accompanied by his confidant, Yelahanka legislator S R Vishwanath and his advocate, Yeddyurappa arrived at the office at 10.40 am. He was questioned by investigating officer Lokayukta DySP S Girish and ADGP Jeevan Kumar Gaonkar for nearly an hour.

“Yeddyurappa appeared on Wednesday and gave a routine set of replies to the questions posed by the investigating officer. The answers were related to matter pertaining to the Upper Bhadra Project. The visit was primarily made due to the Lokayukta court mandate of him appearing before the Lokayukta police within 10 days of granting anticipatory bail,” informed a Lokayukta official.

Yeddyurappa was handed over a questionnaire with 10 questions probing into his knowledge of what transpired during his tenure related to the project.

JD(S) leader Y S V Datta had filed a complaint before the Lokayukta alleging irregularities by Yeddyurappa in awarding a contract for the Upper Bhadra Project.

Hearing adjourned

The High Court of Karnataka has adjourned the hearing of the petition by B S Yeddyurappa seeking to quash the lower court proceedings against him to Thursday.

During the hearing on Wednesday, Hasmath Pasha, counsel for Sirajin Basha objecting to the prayer sought by Yeddyurappa, contended that the Governor’s sanction for prosecution was based on the merits of the case. He further submitted in the event of staying the proceedings, the petitioner would raise similar contention and seek relief in other cases.
