Govt to act stern against illegal gas connection

Speaking after inaugurating building of District Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum here on Friday, she said the state government has taken measures to check the misuse of the subsidy offered by the Central government on LPG and also to check fake connections.

“One LPG connection will be given to a family with two members. There is a need for additional connections for a family with seven to eight members.”

 “The government will respond to such families at the earliest. People need not worry over LPG connections,” she said.

The Minister said illegal LPG connections have been identified in urban areas by matching RR number and the door number.

As many as 30 lakh illegal connections have been identified. Those who had failed to provide suitable documents related to LPG connections should furnish at the earliest. If they fail to furnish, then the government will declare all the 30 lakh connections as illegal and cancel it, she warned.

Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah, District-in-Charge Minister Krishna Palemar, MLA Appacchu Ranjan, State Consumers Grievances Redressal Commission President Justice K Ramanna, District and Sessions Judge Ashok Nijagannanavar, Deputy Commissioner Dr N V Prasad, SP Manjunath Annigeri were present.

Own buildings

Energy Minister Shobha Karandlaje said that measures will be taken to provide own building for the District Consumer Grievances Redressal Forum in every district headquarters in the state. Awareness is being created among school and college students on consumer rights. Awareness will also be created through Sthree Shakthi Sangha.
