Wherever you go, master, I'll be there!

That is how a Dasara Pada has been written. However, the way in which a dog show was organised here was completely of a unique and different sort of event.

The spectators found it special and interesting to look at the activities of a number of variety of pets at a single place. Some were with resounding voice, some other with long hairs, some with small legs, those with sox on their feet, white, black... the pets entertained the viewers continuously for full three hours.

The ninth dog show was held in the premises of GMP school grounds in Ammathi on Monday. Kodagu Kennel Club, the district unit of the Veterinary Association, Mandepanda Hockey Committee jointly organised the event.

A pug already known to people because of its appearance in a private mobile company advertisement with the slogan “Wherever you go, our network follows”, was the centre of attraction in the show. The variety originally from Holland, is a champion of Indians too.

Interestingly, a puppy of this variety was being sold for Rs 7,000 or Rs 8,000 earlier but once the advertisement was a big hit, the rate jumped to Rs 25,000 all of a sudden.
In the meantime, St Bernanrd variety dogs of Europe origin, weighing a quintal, also attracted the viewers’ attention. This variety of dogs are known for security, mainly used in snow-covered areas. It is said an effigy of a dog of this variety that protected at least 45 people during an emergency in Switzerland has been kept in Burnia Museum even today.

‘German Daxun’ know for its short legs and unique physique, ‘Rajapalyam’ of Tamil Nadu known for its hunting capacity, Mudhol variety of Karnataka known for its popularity even at the national level were also found in the show.

Though looks lean and small, Mudhol dog can run up to 60 km. A person from Pandavarapura had won Rs 54,000 cash prize by presenting his Mudhol variety pet at the national level dog show.

Dalmesan known as the most beautiful variety, Bocer known for its special facial appearance, Great Danes known for its height, Rot Villers known for their cruelty, Pointer known for its companionship with human beings, Beagle known for its hunting of small creatures, Baset Hound, another variety known for hunting, etc, attracted a large number of spectators.

All dogs participated in the show were administered anti-Rabies vaccines sponsored by Karuna Daya Sangha of Bangalore.
