Mahima sceptical about probe into HBCS scam

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, Congress leader Mahima J Patel appealed to the State government to hand over the investigation into irregularities  in 122 HBCSs in Bangalore and Mysore to an independent investigating agency.

The HBCSs’ case clearly indicates the collusion between the Department of Cooperation and the HBCSs resulting in conversion of huge tracts of agricultural land into residential layouts.

Also, a few persons in the societies’ management and influential developers were allowed to amass crores of rupees of public money,” stated Mahima Patel in his letter.

The Congress leader, who is also party to the PIL challenging the Government Order on admission of associate members and nominal members to any HBCS, believes that there is a scam amounting to crores of rupees.

In a five-page letter, Patel has cited the HC judgements and the grave nature of violations committed by the HBCSs. The leader further demanded that all operations of the HBCSs including formation of layouts and allotment of sites be stayed till the probe is completed.
