Karnataka legislature session from Dec 5

The government hitherto held the winter session in Belgaum.
A meeting of the state cabinet here took a decision to this effect. The session will continue till December 16, Law Minister S Suresh Kumar told reporters.

The cabinet decided not to revive the Legislature Committee, a demand made by Congress MLC, K C Kondaiah in the last session of the upper house and also confine itself to the existing legislation of holding legislature session for 60 days annually, Kumar said.

Higher Education Minister and leader of the Upper House V S Acharya had promised opposition that their demand for a 100-day session would be placed before the cabinet for discussion in the last session, he said.

The cabinet, which discussed it, resolved to adhere to the existing legislation of 60-day session, he added.

During this year, the government has held legislature session for 22 days.
The coming session will be of ten working days, which indicates that it would not be possible to touch the mark of 60-day session this year.
