Mogudu

A sermonising, stodgy saga
Last Updated 04 November 2011, 19:28 IST

Known for his penchant for films with homilies on upholding family values, Krishnavamsi, once again tackles the theme of how marital bond should be strong and stable so that petty problems and ego hassles do not harm it.

However, what Mogudu offers audiences is stupefying sermons and stodgy stale saga, that not only fails to enliven but also stifles with its ennui-driving, enervating convoluted drama.

Bujji, aka Ram Prasad, a fun loving and footloose ward of rich social activist Anjaneya Prasad falls for Rajji nee Raja Rajeswari, politico Chamundeswari’s daughter, and even as wedding bells are set to blare, misunderstandings and triviliaties take titanic proportions and the alliance is broken.

However, the cupid-struck couple tie the knot in distant Mauritius even as old pal
Jo! moons for Bujji seeking to wean him away. The couple return to face the
music again before all smiles, happy, joint family frame freeze.

Gopichand passes muster as Ram, including throwing few punches at goons gladdening fans’ hearts. Taapsee and Shraddha are pretty puppets spicing up proceedings.

Though well-intentioned, Krishnavamsi’s high-decibel family fights, languid, lethargic pace and trite, predictable end makes Mogudu a mixed bag.
