Katich's manager warns of IPL pitfalls for foreign players

Last Updated 06 November 2011, 09:58 IST

Katich's manager Robert Joske claimed many international players, including West Indies star Ramnaresh Sarwan, have waited 18 months to be paid the outstanding amounts.
Katich signed a three-year deal with the Kings XI Punjab after the inaugural players auction in 2008.

He did not play last season but he had to fight hard to get his dues cleared for the previous year.

"We have been dealing with this matter through Tim May and the Federation of International Cricketers' Associations," Joske was quoted as saying by 'The Sydney Morning Herald'.

"But I think people from Western countries need to realise (India) doesn't have the same legal system we have. So, we don't have the same recourse, as the Commonwealth Games' suppliers are finding out. It's very difficult, and things can go haywire," he added.

Katich also confirmed the delay in payment but said he could do little to avoid it.
"It's unfortunate circumstances. But while I believe it will be resolved all we can do is sit and wait," he said.

Katich is already at war with Cricket Australia, which axed him from the list of contracted players a few months ago.
