The girl, from a very poor family, was allegedly abducted by the youth around seven months back from her home at Manihari village, taken to another village where they gang raped her repeatedly, police said. Although the culprits had later allowed the girl to go home, they threatened her and continued to sexually exploit her.
The girl, whose father is a rickshaw puller in Varanasi, did not disclose her ordeal to her parents as she feared that they might punish her, police said. “The culprits might have felt emboldened, when the girl chose to remain silent”, police officials said.
The culprits later came to know that the girl had conceived. They forced her to abort the foetus at a local private nursing home in Sakaldiha area in the district on Saturday last. “A quack terminated the pregnancy”, said officials, adding that the girl could very well have died during the procedure.
