After bail, Yeddyurappa's first stop is the Ulsoor temple

In anticipation of his visit, the Ulsoor police had made tight security arrangements around the temple with police personnel manning the area from 4.30 in the evening.

Incidentally, a large number of devotees had thronged the temple to offer special poojas to Lord Shiva on the occasion of ‘Karthika masa’, making it doubly difficult for the police to ensure that there was no commotion at the temple.

Yeddyurappa, who paid his fifth visit to the temple, arrived at 7.15 pm and offered his obeisance. He was flanked by his supporters including minister Renukacharya, MLA Nandish Reddy and his son B Y Raghavendra, while ‘pradhan archak’ Shanmuga Dixit performed ‘archane’ and ‘maha mangalarathi’.

While Yeddyurappa’s supporters were in a celebratory mood raising slogans, the devotees who had arrived at the temple were inconvenienced for more than 45 minutes.
Dr Madhumati of Vijayanagar said she had come to the temple especially because the ‘pradosha vishesha pooje’ was being offered on the auspicious day. “The police tried to stop me from entering the temple because of security reasons, but I refused to listen to them.

This is sheer public nuisance. The entire world knows what has happened, and here we have Yeddyurappa and his supporters creating trouble for common people,” she said. It is to be noted that Yeddyurappa had recently ensured the release of Rs two crore from the State exchequer for the renovation of the temple. He is said to have done this on the advice of his astrologers who had said that renovating the temple, especially the kalyani, would bring him good luck.

Welcomed with ‘aarti’

Yeddyurappa was welcomed at his Race Course Road residence by his family members with the traditional ‘aarti’ on Tuesday.

His daughters-in-law performed the ‘aarti’ at the entrance of the house, even as his supporters shouted slogans of victory. Yeddyurappa’s sons and grandchildren were also present. Soon after entering the house, Yeddyurappa headed straight to the pooja room.
