Solve problems of farmers: DSS

Last Updated 18 August 2009, 18:29 IST

Speaking to presspersons after submitting a memorandum to the government, Samiti Convenor K Nanjundappa said that the DSS had been taking up various pro-people issues, and has been helping solve the problems of farmers and laymen by taking up their issues with the respective departments.

“There are several problems in the taluk office. The dalits’ burial ground has been encroached. A proper survey should be conducted and the encroachments should be cleared. Cultivation certificates should be issued in Hirebidanur, Halaganahalli, Idagur, Doddamallekere and Peddireddinagenahalli,” he said.

The Convenor also urged the district administration to develop the agricultural land belonging to SC/STs.

“There has been a delay in issuing of khatas for IHR and registrations, particularly in Somashettihalli, Hosur hobli. An alternative has to be found to the temporary BPL cards that are being given now. Over 9000 applications have to be distributed immediately,” he said.

Some of the other demands of the Samiti are: inclusion of small and marginal farmers in the list of those who will receive compensation, and speedy disbursal of the compensation money; cancellation of certain khatas that have been issued for land in Survey Number 480, Kasaba Hobli, Idagur village; and updation of the land records.
