Speaking after inaugurating the convention, former MP Vinay Kumar Sorake said that youths are the bonafide crusaders of the country. They should not yearn for the benefits from the nation, rather they should make up their mind to contribute to the progress of the nation, he said.

Corruption is rampant in the State and the government is incompetent to restrain it. Voters are purchased and Government has failed to fulfil the pledges assured to the public. Youths are snatched away from their right of employment by hiking of the retirement age by two years. State government is synonymous with fraud, violence and discord, he accused.

The Centre has introduced many pro poor and farmer friendly programmes. The budget is a layman budget catering to the needs of the poor and unemployed, Sorake added.

Udupi district Congress President M A Gafoor, Youth Leader Pramodh Madhwaraj, Udupi Block Congress Committee President Diwaker Kunder, KPCC Members Manjunath Udyavar, Dinesh Puthran, Karnataka Youth Congress General Secretary Namitha Balakrishna, Secretary Amrith Shenoy, Udupi District Youth Congress Committee President Prasanna Kumar Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
