Eight out of 12 members of the Panchayat took part in the election process. Since Rekha was only one to submit nomination, Election Officer and Tahshildar Devaraj declared her as the winner.
After last Panchayat election JD(S) candidate B P Mogappa became the president and Congress backed Yathish became the vice-president. Soon most of the members passed no confidence motion against the vice-president Yathish due to which he had to step down.
Rekha Venkatesh sought support from BJP members G S Nagaraj, Prasanna and Shivamma Mahadevaiah to become the vice-president. All five JD(S) members have supported her.
