‘Arangetram’

The bharatanatyam arangetram of Sudarshini Raghavan will be held on November 12, 6 pm at the JSS Auditorium, 1st Main Road, Jagadguru Shivathreeshawara Circle, 8th Block, Jayanagar. Sudarshini comes under the tutelage of Padmaja Venkatesh.  

Hindustani recital
Ananya is presenting Hindustani recitals at Ananya Sabhangana, 4th Ma­in, Malleswaram on November 12, 6 pm. 

On the occasion, there will be harmonium solo by Ravindra Katoti (disciple of Pt Rambhau Bijapure) and vocal recital by Indhudhar Nirodi (disciple of Pt K G Ginde). They will be accompanied on tabla by Gurumurthy Vaidya.

‘Horizon series’
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan will be presenting an odissi dance recital by Rahul Acharya on November 12, 6.30 pm at The Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road. The performance is part of ‘Horizon series’. 

‘Many moods’
Babloo Mukherjee and his team will be performing at a concert titled ‘Many Moods of R D Burman’ on November 12, 6.30 pm at Chowdiah Memorial Hall. The evening will feature R D Burman’s romantic melodies, sizzling hits, rhythmic beats to masti bhare nagme, ‘discos and qawalis’. Babloo will be accompanied by other singers like Divya Raghavan, Sinchan Dixit, Biju Nair, Raja and Abhishek. Music has been arranged by Srinivasan Achar. ‘Bikhre Bimb’
The award-winning Hindi play, Bikhre Bimb will be staged on November 13, 3.30 pm at Ranga Shankara.  The play is directed by Girish Karnad and K M Chaitanya. Pradeep Belawadi has designed the lights. ‘Kala Nadam’
 Nadam is presenting ‘Kala Nadam 2011’, a mega festival of classical dance and music, from November 12 to 19 at ADA Rangamandira, J C Road, opposite Ravindra Kala­kshetra. There will be a kat­hak recital by Nandini K Mehta and K Murali Mohan and bharatanatyam by Pri­yadarsini Govind from Chennai on November 12, 6.30 pm. There will be a kathak recital by Nadam Ensemble on November 13, 6 pm. For details, call 9880201608.

'Haasya Mela'
Antharanga, a creative amateur theatre group, is organising the 11th version of Haasya Mela on November 13 from 10 am to 8 pm at JSS Auditorium, 8th Block, Jayanagar. This will be followed by a five-day theatre festival Rangollasa Utsava till November 20 at K H Kalasoudha, Hanumanthanagar. Several plays such as Sanje Haadu, Yagdhagella Aithe , Undaadi Gunda, Bandvalavilladha Baddai and Badhuku Jataka Bandi will be staged during the festiv­al.

Young pianist
The Bangalore School of Music is celebrating Children’s Day with a concert by young pianist Neville Barucha on November 13, 6.45 pm at Alliance Francaise. Neville will perform pieces by composers like Haydn, Schubert, Schumann and Chopin to mention a few. Entry is by donation cards that are available at Bangalore School of Music and Alliance Francaise. Melodious strains
Naadaranjani Sangeetha Sabha, Basaveshwaranagar, is celebrating the 11th Karthika Sangeethotsava from November 6 to 13, at 5.30 pm. The venue is Dharani Mahila Sangha premises (behind Basaveshwaranagar Main Post Office). Artistes such as Chinmaya Sisters, Revathi Krishnan, Trichur Brothers and Vijayalakshmi will perform on the occasion.

‘Mind Walking’
Jagriti is presenting ‘Mind Walking’ on November 12  at 8 pm and November 13 at 3 pm and 6.30 pm at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield, next to Palm Meadows. John Binnie is directing ‘Mind Walking’. It is a new play by one of the UK’s most acclaimed playwrights Tanika Gupta and produced by the UK based BandBazi and Mumbai based Q Theatre Productions with the support of the British Council. This international production uses aerial trapeze with emotionally charged and character driven narratives in the play. It is a warm emotional drama exploring notions of home, cultural identity and family bonds. For details, call 41242879.

'Gana Saurabha'
Sambhrama Saurabha is organising an evening of P B Sreenivas’ songs on
November 13, 3.30 pm.

The venue is Central College’s Jnana Jyoti Auditorium. Singers L N Shastry, Hemant, Anuradha Bhat and M D Pallavi will sing popular melodies sung by P B Sreenivas. For details, call 9845234600.
