'Rural service mandatory for medicos'

Inaugurating the campus of the Karnataka Institute of Diabetology (KID), the minister said the government will ensure that as many as 5,860 medical students serve at primary health centres.

“One year of house surgeonship in rural areas will be made part of the curriculum,” Ramdas said.

“Anticipating legal hurdles, we are amending the bill to ensure that it is not challenged in any court of law,” said Ramdas. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda assured the KID of all possible help.
