Bullet struck White House window: Secret Service

Last Updated 04 May 2018, 04:03 IST

The first bullet had been stopped by ballistic glass behind the historic exterior glass of the building, where US President lives with the first family. An additional round was also found in the exterior of the White House, the channel said, adding that the bullets were found while the Secret Service was investigating the Friday night's incident in which gunshots were heard near the White House.

The Secret Service has determined that the shots were fired from 700-800 yards (meters) away from the White House and issued an arrest warrant for Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, 21. It did not provide further details on the shooting.

The bullet damage to the White House "has not been conclusively connected to Friday's incident, and an assessment of the exterior of the White House is ongoing," the Secret Service said in a statement.

The bullet rounds were discovered yesterday, News4, a Washington-based news channel reported.
