A 30-year-old woman has been on the ventilator at the ICU ward of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases (RGICD) since Sunday. One positive patient has been admitted in the H1N1 Flu ward.

On Wednesday, RGICD screened nearly 377 patients, and collected 40 swab samples for testing at Nimhans.  Victoria Hospital too has one asthma patient admitted in the ICU; the test results of the patient's throat swab is still expected.  Victoria Hospital screened 151 patients, and collected 21 swabs for testing.

Meanwhile, KC General Hospital, Malleshwaram, screened 42 persons and collected two throat swabs. No admissions were registered.

‘Manjunath was stable’
According to doctors at RGICD, Manjunath, who died at Victoria Hospital on Tuesday, was in stable condition when he was screened for H1N1 flu at RGICD.

However, the Hospital did not refer him to Victoria Hospital and no reference letter was issued. “When the patient came to RGICD, his condition was alright. Perhaps his condition deteriorated afterwards,” said a doctor.

Twenty-year-old Manjunath was admitted to Victoria Hospital on Monday evening in a critical condition. He died due to respiratory attack, early on Tuesday.
