'Dismissal of Rohit was crucial, says Binny

“Yeah, it was a vital moment for us. Mithun surprised him with a lifter, and he wasn’t ready for that. It was a good wicket, and that gave us an opportunity to move on. We couldn’t exploit a couple of tough chances against him, and it can prove costly against a batsman like him. But luckily, we managed to get rid of him early,” Binny said on Saturday.

The all-rounder said Karnataka bowlers stuck to an off-stump line to frustrate Mumbai batsmen. “There was nothing in the pitch for bowlers, and it’s a nice effort to get eight wickets here. Vinay told us to stick to an off-stump line to frustrate them, and then bowl a few on the stumps so that they can be caught off guard. It worked well against Ramesh (Powar), Agarkar and Abdulla in the later stages of the day,” he said.

Binny, who took three wickets conceding 27 runs on the day, had said at the start of the season that he would like to contribute more with the ball, and the Bangalorean was happy to come up with a brilliant effort at the Brabourne stadium.

“I didn’t bowl much in the last two matches because the conditions were not suitable to my type of bowling. But here I maintained a good line as Vinay told me, and it worked well for me today,” he said.
