CB Pur hosts State-level table tennis tournament

The tourney, which commenced on Saturday, was organised in K V English School. Students from Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur and other places were seen competing with students from Bangalore, Kolar and Mysore.

More than 600 students participated in the tournament. Large number of participants had forced the organisers to conduct five matches simultaneously. Speaking to Deccan Herald, Physical Education Teacher Maruti,  said “due to large number of participants, instead of league format, matches are held in knock-out format for further levels. The final result of the tournament will be out on Monday.”

Well-organised

The tournament has been organised well. Participants are not facing accommodation problem. Food is provided at subsidised rates and there is transport facility to take participants to the palce of tournament, Maruti said.

He said that participants from Educational Districts, Bangalore South, Ramnagar, Tumkur, Hasan, Bijapur, Yadgir, Haveri, Mandya, Shimogga, Udupi, North Karnataka, Chikkodi, Chikkaballapur, Madhugiri, Gadag, Raichur, Belgaum, South Canara, Bellary, Bangalore Rural, Bidar, Bagalkot, Coorg, Chamarajanagar, Chitradurga, Bangalore North, Dharwad, Sirsi, Gulbarga, Davangere, Koppal, Chikmagalur, Kolar and Mysore.
