Ashok Gupta, who hails from Patna, was arrested from Gaya in Bihar Nov 19, Deputy Commissioner of Police Meenu Choudhary said.

Gupta was addicted to liquor, which affected his work. He was living in Jahangir Puri in north Delhi and occasionally did some petty work for his landlord Raja Ram, for which he used to get some money.

Gupta asked for a loan of Rs.500 from his landlord Aug 29, but Raja Ram refused and asked him to vacate the premises.

On this, an altercation took place between them, during which Gupta threatened him with dire consequences.

He strangled his landlord's sons -- Suraj, 8, and Gopal, 6 -- on the same day and even hid their bodies in his room.

Ram's wife Phool Kumari came to know about the incident when her daughter Anjali found her brothers' bodies lying under Gupta's bed.

Phool Kumari told the police that on that day, two of her five children had gone for tuition, while she herself was at the market, and hence there was no one at home.

When she returned, she didn't see Suraj and Gopal, but saw Gupta locking the door of his room and going out. On being asked by Phool Kumari, he said he had seen the children playing outside.

However, after sometime, her daughter Anjali spotted their bodies lying under a cot in Gupta's room.

The lock was broken open and they were taken to hospital, where doctors declared them brought dead.
