Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has written to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, conveying the decision not to adopt the test till 2014. Speaking on the sidelines of a function, Acharya said the State would take a decision based on the Centre’s response to the letter.

“If they do not agree, then we will appeal in the Supreme Court. Apart from the variation in the syllabus, there will be a heavy psychological impact on the students, if we go for it now. It will be better if this is implemented by 2014,” he said.

Principal Secretary to Higher Education Department, Latha Krishna Rao, said: “There are a number of institutions which have announced individual dates for their entrance exams. Surely, the Centre is not serious about implementing the single entrance test this year,” she opined.

Earlier, speaking at the conference on ‘Media and Human Rights: The Global Scenario,’ Latha Krishna said with the emergence of new media and social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, media was tracking stories as they were developing.
