“This is the first time I am taking part in a fashion week,” she exclaims. The event will be held from September 9 to 13 and the designer will be showcasing her collection
on September 11.
“Last year was the first edition of the fashion week and the organisers had invited only veteran designers as they didn’t want to take any chances. But this time, they were looking out for new designers,” she informs. “So they sent us a mail and I applied for it and got selected,” she says.
Nimirta informs that the collection will be a spring summer 2010 line. “The colour palette consists of silver, pink and turquoise. And the collection is extremely summery with lots of flowy maxis and dresses.” Speaking of the embellishments on the clothes, she says, “The dresses are not over embellished.”
An exclusive fabric that she has used in the collection is the French chiffon. “It’s a lovely material, which is very light and has a lot of sheen. It’s ideal for evening wear.” Nimirta has some light, summer jackets in her collection as well. “Then there are the jewelled skirts with subtle embellishments,” she adds. The entire collection has been inspired by the art decor of the 1930s and 1940s. “Though it’s a glamourous collection, it will also give an old-world feel.”
Nimirta admits that she hasn’t had a minute to breathe preparing for the
D-day. “The clothes are getting finished and now I have to finalise the look, music and accessories for the event,” she says.
“The entire idea was to showcase at a fashion week and meet potential buyers, and l am really looking forward to it,” she says. But prior to the show, Nimirta will also be showcasing her collections at another event in the City on September 5. With her plate full with projects from the City and outside, looks like Nimirta is all set to rock the fashion world.
