"It is a cool film about waking up to life, family, love, career", Ranbir told reporters here.
The actor said he decided to do the film because it was the finest script he had heard in his two-year-old career.

Ranbir is paired opposite Konkana Sen Sharma and the film is directed by young debutant Ayan Mukherji and produced by Karan Johar.

Konkana, who plays Aisha in the movie, said her character was earnest, hardworking and independent young woman completely opposite to the protagonist Sid.

"She is the catalyst in Sid's life and propels him forward which changes his life," the actress said.

Ayan has earlier assisted Karan on 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and Ashutosh Gowariker for 'Swades'. He said he was not trying to push down moral values to the audience but just highlighting a phase of Sid's life.

Ayan said he wanted to make a film on his experiences and the life that he had seen so far. "Through this film, I am trying to capture the time of our lives when we were younger and lost, directionless. But, we were so young that we did not care," he said.

He said the tilte 'Wake Up Sid' was suggested by Ranbir. "We decided on the title because it resonates well with the story," he said.
