Five killed in separate accidents

Krishna, a pedestrian, was knocked down by a speeding BMTC bus while he was crossing the road at Bathahalli Gate on Friday. Infuriated by the accident, local residents threw stones on the bus. Timely intervention  by the police prevented the mob from setting the bus on fire. The protesters later blocked traffic for almost two hours badly affecting movement of vehicles between Avalahalli and Hoskote, police said.

In a hit-and-run incident, Anand (25), an employee of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike, was run over by four-wheeler on Budigere Road.

An unidentified person was killed in a collision between two trucks near Attur. Two others sustained injuries in the accident. The drivers of both the vehicles fled the spot.

K R Ranganath, 30, a HAL employee, was crushed under the wheels of a private bus near Ananda Rao Circle on Friday evening. He was a resident of Kamakshipalya, police said.

Ranganath was the only son of his parents. He got a job in the HAL on compassionate ground after his father passed away while in service. Ranganath was unmarried.

The accident took place when the victim was returning home on his two-wheeler. The police seized the bus and launched a search to arrest the driver who fled the spot after the accident.

In another incident, Nagaraj, 55, a car driver, was mowed down by an unidentified vehicle on Thursday near Hoskote checkpost.

Youth dies in accident

A 20-year-old two-wheeler rider was killed after a KSRTC bus rammed into his bike on Bangalore-Vijayapura Main Road.

Shivaraj, a resident of Chowdasandra near Shidlaghatta, was on his way home when the accident occurred.
