Sucheth, Spoorthy champs

Sucheth registered a come-from-behind 8-11, 15-13, 11-8, 11-9 victory over Amogh Athani of MTTC while Spoorthy overwhelmed Aishwarya N of STAR 11-4, 8-11, 11-9, 11-3 in a fast-paced match.

In the boys’ final, Amogh began the match promisingly exhibiting his free-flowing style of play to rack up a 7-4 lead before Sucheth did some catching up. Smashing a couple of brilliant cross-court winners and shots from difficult angles, Amogh finished the game at 11-8.

Sucheth bounced back in the second game holding his nerves on big points as both players fought a close battle. Amogh struggled with his winners and so did Sucheth but the latter kept his nerve to win the game 15-13. Taking a cue from his opponent, Sucheth had a spring in his step in the third game. The lanky boy ensured long rallies on most points as he played more confidently maintaining his 5-2 lead to round off the game at 11-8.

The fourth game had a similar pattern as the third, with Sucheth taking the lead and staying ahead at 5-3. Amogh made strong attempts to come back into the game at 7-7 but Sucheth showed great control at the business end to wrap up the game and match at 11-9.
