He also owns  three cars, including a swanky Honda City and a Mitsubishi Lancer.

A draughts-man
The assets and properties of Mahesh Prusty, a draughtsman in the water resources department, came to light when vigilance sleuths raided his office and residence, besides two other places on Tuesday.

“During the raids we found that the man owns properties and assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. It is certainly beyond his official sources of income,” said a highly placed vigilance source here on Wednesday.

According to him, the value of the ten plots in Bhubaneswar alone would be more than Rs 50 lakh. An apartment is under construction on one of the plots. “A detailed investigation is on to trace the source of the employee’s funds to acquire all these high value properties,” the vigilance official said.

During the raids, the vigilance sleuths also found two motor bikes, Rs 80,000 in cash and gold ornaments. The value of the ornaments is being calculated.

Not the first time
This is not the first time that a junior grade employee of the state government is being caught in the vigilance net for owning assets and properties worth crores of rupees.

A few months back, a gate keeper of a border check post of transport department was found owning properties, which included a palatial building as well as vehicles.
