Konkani awards presentation tomorrow

Addressing a press meet, Mandd Sobhann Gurkaar Eric Ozario said ‘Konkani Abolem’ award will be conferred on Joyce Ozario in recognition of her service to Mandd Sobhann music for 25 years and Konkani music for 40 years. The award will be given in six categories viz; ‘Best female singer,’ ‘Best male singer,’ ‘Best music composer,’ ‘Best lyricist,’ ‘Best music arranger,’ and ‘Best Music album.’

The Mandd Sobann has received 248 applications for the awards.

The nominations for ‘Best female singer,’ are Priya Menezes, Nephretari Pradhan, and Sangeetha Balachandar, Udupi.

‘Best male singer’ nominees are Melwyn Peris, Mangalore; Antony San, Goa and Prakash D’Souza, Bajpe; ‘Best music composer’ nominees are Siddanath Buyao, Goa; Roshan D’Souza, Mangalore and Melwys Peris, Mangalore; ‘Best lyricist’ nominees are late Bakibab Borkar, Goa; Melwys Antony, Mangalore and Ramesh Veluskar, Goa;  ‘Best music arranger’ nominees are Joel Pereira, Mangalore; Stephen Praveen Dutt, Bangalore and Darrel Mascarenhas, Puttur and ‘Best Music album’ nominees are Anand Sathoskar, Goa (Bakti Sanchit), Fr Alwyn Sequeira (Tuje Songim) and Netha Peris, Mangalore (Moga Uzo). The winners will be given a cash prize of Rs 25,000. Music Director V Manohar will be the chief guest.

The Sax -Trumpet Ensemble of Tiatr Academy, Goa, will provide instrumental music in the evening. Nach Sobhann will entertain the audience.
