2 days to go for Biffes

Biffes will feature 180 films from 40 countries in nine cinema screens across the City. The festival will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda in the presence of Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjui and cine stars Ananth Nag and Om Puri at Jnanajyothi auditorium at the Central College on Thursday.

The film ‘Lucky’ from South Africa, directed by Avie Luthra featuring renowned actor B Jayashree in the lead will be screened. Jayashree had won the Black Pearl award for best actress for this role at the Abu Dhabi International Film Festival.

H N Narahari Rao, artistic director of Biffes said inclusion of competition section was a step forward with good collection of international films.

The festival organisers said all the schedules of the movies were finalised with a lot of constraints as Chennai too was organising the festival simultaneously. The organisers will be shuttling with the film prints between Bangalore and Chennai to screen all the movies.

The organisers also had inconvenience in converting the movies from old formats to the new DVD Blu-ray formats.

The delegate registration is being carried out at Badami House, Suchitra, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, GM Rejoyz and Fame Lido.  The Festival Office in the Information Department will open from December 13. Delegates can obtain spot registration with a payment of Rs 500 for the entire festival. Students with ID proof can get the pass for just Rs 100.
