Depressed policeman shot himself dead

According to police, Vipin Malik (30), who lived with his family in Ganga Vihar area at Gokalpuri in north-east Delhi, ended his life on Monday morning.

“He shot himself while his children had gone to school and his wife was busy in the kitchen,” a senior police officer said adding Vipin’s father, Chandra Pal Malik— a Sub Inspector with the Delhi Police, too was present in the house during the incident.

Suicide note

The pistol shot made every family member rush towards the room where they found him bleeding profusely from the head, police said and added that the constable was dead by the time they received a call at the police control room about the incident.

During investigation, police came to know about the depression he was going through for a long time.

Police recovered a suicide note in which none, but the depression was blamed for the act.

Family members, however, informed police that after the death of his younger brother, Rohit, in an accident in Meerut five months ago, Vipin went into depression and even requested a transfer from the Kotwali police station to the district lines.

He joined the force in 2003 and was presently posted at the Kotwali police station as constable.
