Dheeraj Kumar, a resident of west Ghonda at Bhajanpura in north-west Delhi, was pursuing diploma in electrical engineering at Pusa Polytechnic in the City.
Police received a call at the control room from Kumar’s parents on Sunday evening that he had consumed poison. Following the call, police rushed to his house and found him unconscious.
“We saw him frothing at the mouth. He was immediately rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival,” said the senior officer.
The body was later handed over to his parents after a post mortem.
Police said the victim was upset that his parents were not allowing him to ride motorcycles after he had two consecutive accidents a few months ago.
However, the exact reason behind Kumar’s extreme step could not be ascertained as no suicide note was recovered from the spot.
