As against an average of twenty cases that were reported last month the count has now gone down to three or four, Dr V K Monga, MCD health committee chairman, said.
"Only three people have tested positive for dengue fever in the past 24 hours. With this the total count of dengue cases in the city has risen to 1,114," Dr Monga said. “Dengue has become a cause of worry as the epidemiology of dengue fever is changing.
The last death due to dengue fever was reported after the onset of winters, on November 17. So even though the count is down with the onset of winters people should still pay attention to sanitation and hygiene” he added. Another mosquito-borne disease, Chikungunya, continues to be ron the top of the charts across hospitals in Delhi.
The total number of chikungunya cases till now has reached the 100 mark. Japanese Encephalitis, common in the neighbouring states, surfaced for the first time in the city after four people tested positive in October.
