Communalism dangerous for social fabric: Dikshit

She was speaking at a conference on communal harmony and national Integration.

“Communalism poses great danger to our composite social fabric. Society needs to always remain vigilant against the evil designs of communal forces,” said Dikshit at the conference with the theme “Promoting communal harmony is promoting national integration”.

On the occasion, a book authored by Dr Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmed, tilted, “Indian National Congress and the Indian Muslims - a Muslim perspective” was released by Dikshit.

The conference was attended by senior Congressman and scholar Dr Karan Singh.  In his presidential address, Singh said, “Conferences of this nature must regularly be held because they remind all of us about our commitment to peace and harmony.”

Interfaith movement

Singh stressed on the need to empower the interfaith movement in India and abroad to strengthen the forces of sanity and moderation.

The highlight of the occasion was felicitation of the heirs and custodians of the highly enriched Indian legacy left by Tipu Sultan, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Hakim Ajmal Khan, Tipu Sultan and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad by the chief priests of Dargah Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti and Dargah Hazrat Khwaja Nizamuddin.
