An inferior goal difference to Railways meant a 3-2 win over Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) was not enough for Karnataka as they crashed out of the 6th Senior National Men’s Hockey Championship (A Division) here on Tuesday.

Though 10 points from their four ties helped them match the table toppers -- Railways -- in the points bracket of Pool A, an inferior goal difference -- Karnataka with +6 and Railways with +10 -- saw the State side fall short in the race for a place in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Karnataka signed off with a 3-2 with over CAG.
