Looks like Chiranjeevi Sarja is the new prankster in Sandalwood. And surprisingly, he willingly admits it! Known for his jovial nature, the actor recently had a caller tune which was a recorded message stating that the user is out of the country.

“I wanted to try out a different caller tune. When I came across this one, I thought why not?” he tells Metrolife. According to him, it’s a great way to get rid of telemarketing calls. Chiranjeevi also says that those close to him are not surprised when he plays pranks like these on them.

Currently shooting for Vardanayaka, Chiranjeevi says that this role is made for him. “I play a brat who is very bindaas and enjoys hanging out with his friends. When I first read the script, I thought that I could easily pull off this role as I am a brat in reality,” he laughs. And like always, he did pull a fast one on everyone on the sets of Varadanayaka.

“There was an intense scene scheduled for the day and just before it was about to be shot, I suddenly started acting like I didn’t want to shoot that day and stayed put in my seat. Everyone got worried and I put on the act for quite sometime. It was only later that I broke into laughter and told them that I was only joking,” says Chiranjeevi.

The movie, that also stars Sudeep and Nishika, is a remake of the Telugu movie Lakshyam. The action-cum-family entertainer will see Sudeep playing an assistant police commissioner while Chiranjeevi will appear as his brother. Chiranjeevi, who played a cop in his last film Dhandam Dhashagunam (DD), is happy to grow back his stubble and hair for this movie.

“I enjoyed sporting a clean shaven look for DD but I am more comfortable with the stubble and long hair. I think this look has become a part of me now,” says Chiranjeevi.
