Shanna Michelle from Seychelles absolutely has no interest to know anything about India. Ask her, what made her to come to India? Pat comes the answer: ''Studies''.  Shanna tells she wanted to take up her higher studies and she had no problems studying anywhere across the globe.

Shanna is doing her medicine in Manipal Malacca Medical College. She came to India through government sponsored programme and she is here since two and half years. Initially, finding it hard to adjust from nothing to everything in India, Shanna tells “all seems to be bit confusing here. The weather, food, people, transportation, traffic, everything is different,” she added.

However, in the path of her two and half year stay in India, Shanna has bountiful of experiences in her bouquet.

Amazed with the way of people interacting with foreigners, Shanna says, “I find it unbelievable the way in which the people behave with the outsiders. They treat them like strangers and they do not interact,” and she adds lectures are quite nice and they teach you well.

Shanna has one thing to appreciate about India and she has no qualms to accept the fact. She feels the atmosphere in India is made for learning. “The serene peaceful atmosphere offers a sort of support to acquire knowledge. The location inspires you to learn and study more. There is no distraction in the process of learning. The quality education offered here is another reality that no one can ignore. We can afford quality education at much less cost when compared to Seychelles,” she adds.

Shanna has couple of saris and many times she enjoyed getting draped into the five and half meter cloth piece. “It is different and also interesting. The clothes here are something new. On the other hand, the food is horrible as it is too spicy. I should make my own arrangements or order my favorite dishes from outside. Sometimes I cook for myself. The food courts in Manipal are really bad. I rarely go to food courts, she adds.

Proud to be from Seychelles, this gal has her own saga to narrate about her native land. “I have come from a small country. It is too small, however, the hospitality offered in Seychelles is marvelous and should be experienced by everyone on earth. We feel for each other and find comfort in expressing our love towards each other.
Indians are conservative in nature and we are very much open,” tells Shanna.

She strongly feels no to holidaying in India. The land is not suitable to have fun and merriment. Shanna wants her friends to come to India only for studying and nothing more. She says, “I will tell them that if you are  serious about studies, then India is the best destination and if you have expectations beyond acquiring knowledge, then obviously India is not the right choice,” she concludes.
