Vishwa Mohan Bhatt to Raghu Dixit will enthrall music lovers

‘Alva’s Virasat’, the national cultural fest organised annually by Alva’s Education Foundation will be held from January 5 to 8 at Mijar Shobhavana.

The cultural extravaganza will be inaugurated by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda at 6 pm while Sri Kshethra Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade will preside.

Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva has informed that the guests will be brought to the venue in an elaborate procession on January 5 at   5.45 pm.
Nitte Education Trust President Dr N Vinay Hegde, A J Group of Institutions Chairman A J Shetty, Businessman Shashikiran Shetty, Mulky-Moodabidri MLA K Abhaychandra Jain, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, former minister K Amarnath Shetty, Canara Bank Deputy General Manager Dasaiah, Karnataka Bank Managing Director P Jayaram Bhat, Nadoja Dr G Shankar, Gold Finch Hotel Managing Director Prakash Shetty among others will be the chief guests.Dr Alva, in a release informed that the prestigious ‘Alvas Virasat-2012 award’ will be given away during the programme.
Cultural programmes

On January 5, Vidwan Ganesh-Kumaresh brothers will render a splendid violin recital from 7.15 pm to 8.45 pm. The stage will be set for ‘Bhangra’ and other folk dances of Punjab from 8.45pm to 10 pm.

On January 6, Shiva Fusion Group Chennai will present ‘Shiva-the musical thunder’ from 6 pm to 8pm. Ram-Li- Ibrahim and troupe from Kuala Lumpur will present ‘Spellbound’, an Odissi group dance.

On January 7, Grammy awardee Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt on Mohan Veena. Pandit Praveen Godkindi on Flute, Zubin Chatterjee on Tabla, Sumith Ramachandran on Electrical Guitar and Sambith Chatterjee on Jazz Drums will present a magnificent musical show.

This will be followed by a Kathak ballet by Adithi Mangal Das and troupe.

The last day of Virasat will witness Mahesh Vinayak Ram and troupe from Chennai presenting a special fusion show. From 7.30pm to 9.30 pm Raghu Dixit and M D Pallavi will take to stage.

Everyday, renowned magician Kudroli Ganesh will present magic show. The students of Alva’s College will also stage entertainment programmes.
