KSPCB directs closure of industries

Last Updated 28 December 2011, 14:44 IST

The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has directed closure of dyeing industries which have sprung up in the border areas of the State, after they were directed to close down their operations from the Tamil Nadu High Court.

The Board has directed the escoms to immediately disconnect power supply to all such industries. The move comes in the wake of the apprehension that the effluents discharged from these industries would cause water pollution.

The KSPCB is said to have received several complaints on industries banned in Tamil Nadu setting up shop in Bangalore Urban, Rural and Chamarajanagar districts. Residents of Anekal and Chandapura on the outskirts of the City had approached the Board, according to a press release.
