Last Updated 29 December 2011, 13:17 IST

Those who would love to spare time in the backwaters, do not necessarily have to pay heavy fee for experiencing the beauty, for traveling in the local boats here in Brahmavar is all possible by spending Rs 3!

For the villagers in Hangarakatte and Kodibengre, traveling on boat is the only option to reach the town, thanks to the lack of road connectivity. One has to spend Rs 3 for traveling in the boat for one kilometer.

The boat rider takes at least 40 trips a day by carrying at least 200-250 passengers.

The serene view of the nature, the linking point of the river and the sea offers a soothing experience to the traveler at a very low cost. However, owing to the lack of publicity, rarely any tourists come here to enjoy the boat rides.

Hangarakatte is located 4 km away from Brahmavar. On the other side of the river is
Kodibengre which has no road connectivity and is solely dependent on the connectivity through river. Kodi Gram Panchayat has been providing boat facility to the villagers since several years.

As the passenger sits on the boat in Hangarakatte, they can travel by enjoying the nature’s beauty and can reach Kodibengre in five minutes.

If the government takes up steps to convert this place into a tourist spot by introducing a luxurious boat, guest house for stay, a bus stand and eatery shops, there is no doubt the place would invite more number of tourists.
